Asphalt Driveway, Concrete Pad & Interlocking Pavers
At this residential project we removed & replaced the existing carport concrete pad with a new re-bar reinforced concrete parking pad. We also supplied & installed a new drainage trough with a removable grate that sits between the new carport concrete pad and the new asphalt driveway with a 18″ by 24″ drainage catch basin which would also act as a clean out and increase the capacity of the large steep driveway to control and handle a large amount rainwater. This increased capacity allows rainwater to flow down the slope of the driveway, drain properly away from the house, removing the potential of flooding the property and house. Along the front of the house we replaced the sunken and damaged concrete front entrance path with a new entrance pathway constructed of interlocking paving bricks.

Concrete Parking Pad
Once the old concrete was removed, we framed up and added the re-bar re-enforcement along with a poly vapor barrier for the new concrete parking pad.
It’s what’s underneath that counts!
Once the work was completed with the interlocking pavers, it was time to finish the grading and compaction of the granular base.
Asphalt Driveway Construction
With the work on the granular base completed, here we are beginning to apply the fresh asphalt.
Asphalt Driveway Progress
Due to the intricate nature of this driveway’s slopes, all of the asphalt had to be applied by hand.
Spreading Asphalt
Here we see the fresh asphalt that was carried from the truck on the street being spread manually. With all the compound curves on the slope of the driveway a normal asphalt paving machine couldn’t be used here.
All Hands on Deck
With all the manual spreading of the asphalt involved on this project, it’s a good thing we have a great crew! Many hands make light work of a tough job.
Compacting the Asphalt
Once the asphalt has been applied and spread, we still need to use our smallest combination roller with vibrator option to come in and compact the asphalt. It’s smaller footprint allows us to maintain the smooth transitions that this driveway project required.
